A group of eight tourists fall into the proton beam of the Bevatron. They have to cross four personal worlds of the four tourists that were awake when they felt on the beam.
The story starts with a description of John Hamilton and his wife. Actually we get thrown in the story while John Hamilton is having a meeting with his boss (Colonel T. E. Edwards).
